What it means to follow the true methodology of Rasulallah
Know that Allah has legislated for us the religion of Islam, he said:
"He has ordained for you the same religion which He ordained for Nuh, and that which We have revealed to you, and that which We ordained for Ibrahim, Musa, and 'Isa, saying you should establish religion and make no divisions in it..."
[Surah al-Shura ayah 13]
And he has not legislated for us different methodologies and paths. Allah said:
"...To each (nation) we have prescribed a Shir'a (legislation) and a Minhaj (path)..."
[Surah al-Ma'idah ayah 48]
And Allah said:
"And verily, this is my straight path, so follow it, and follow not (other) paths, for they will separate you away from his path. This he has ordained for you that you may keep your duty (to Allah)."
[Surah al-An'am ayah 153]
The religion of Islam is the only path and methodology which Allah has ordained for all the believers. And he ordered them to follow it so that they may properly keep their duty to Allah, and he warned them from following other paths.
As Allah said:
"Then we have put you on a path of (our) commandment (Sharia of Allah). So follow you that, and follow not the desires of those who know not."
[Surah al-Jathiyah ayah 18]
And Allah said:
"...And follow not (other) paths, for they will separate you away from his path..."
[Surah al-An'am ayah 153]
We therefore know that Allah has ordained for us a single Madhab (path), and that is our religion, which solely consists of Qur'an and Sunnah. Any other path or division that has happened within the Ummah is not from the religion of Allah, but rather it is from the faults and mistakes of humans. The religion of Allah does not consist of multiple paths, by Allah it does not.
They claim that the different Madhahib and 'Aqa'id all belong to the religion of Allah, and that they are different paths that lead us to the truth. And this is false since these different paths contradict each other.
Allah said:
"Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely have found therein many a contradiction."
[Surah al-Nisa Ayah 82]
Rather, the different Madhahib and 'Aqa'id are human attempts at reaching the truth, and they contain that which is from the religion and they also contain human faults and mistakes, and this is not from the religion of Allah. Islam is not known through various paths which a person can pick and choose, but rather Islam is known through the revelation of the one who legislated it.
Allah said:
"Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other than Him any Awliya. Little do you remember."
[Surah al-A'raf Ayah 3]
And Allah told us that this is the best thing to do:
"...And if you disagree over anything, refer back to Allāh and the Messenger if you believe in Allah and the last day, that is better and the best Ta'wil (interpretation/result)."
[Surah al-Nisa Ayah 59]
And Allah said about those who follow his revelation:
"...Whoever follows my guidance he shall neither go astray, nor shall be distressed."
[Surah Taha ayah 123]
The believer should therefore solely submit to the revelation of Allah, which is the Qur'an and authentic Sunnah, and he should abandon the practice of adhering to a specific sect since this is not the path which Allah has ordained for him. The true believers will know that this is the truth from their lord and they will submit to this.
As Allah said:
“The only saying of the faithful believers, when they are called to Allah and His Messenger to judge between them, is that they say: “We hear and we obey”. And such are the successful.”
[Surah al-Nur Ayah 51]
